Tremors from Indonesia's quake felt in S'pore

SINGAPORE: Tremors from Indonesia's 8.6-magnitude quake were felt in several parts of Singapore on Wednesday.

Two Singapore flights to Phuket, Thailand, have been affected by the closure of the Phuket International Airport, due to tsunami warnings.

SilkAir flight MI 756 departed Singapore at 4.45pm but had to turn back. Another SilkAir flight, MI 758, was supposed to have left at 6.35pm, but had been delayed.

The Phuket International Airport will officially be closed until 8am on Thursday.

Several callers to the MediaCorp hotline said they felt the tremors over at Marine Parade, Beach Road, Bukit Panjang, Bendemeer Road, Farrer Road and Whampoa Road.

They added that the tremors were not as bad as those experienced in previous years.

Devi Singh, a Bukit Panjang resident, said: "It was about 4.50pm. I was on the computer at home with my mum-in-law and husband when suddenly I felt giddy while at the computer. My husband went to lie down, he thought he was also feeling giddy.

"But when I looked up, I saw the light swaying from left to right. And this (lasted) about 60 seconds. There were two other tremors that lasted for about 20 seconds.

"We did not leave the building because we'd felt similar tremors before - the other time (when) there were earthquakes and tsunami. So we stayed put in the building."

A Whampoa resident, Tan Chi Ming, also said she felt the "shakes". She said she rushed to her dad's room and saw the chandelier on his ceiling shaking violently. "We just felt a bit of shaking, then it stopped in about three to five minutes," she added.

Office workers at a nine-storey building along Beach Road were also among those who felt the tremors.

Those on higher floors were apparently more affected and rushed down for safety.

"Most of us on the seventh floor could actually feel the tremors. I felt very giddy initially, sort of like a rocking boat. We were all quite alarmed," said office worker Janet Patt.

"I saw that everything was just shaking... the hanging lights were shaking. So we just evacuated, all of us," said another office worker.

Staff eventually returned to their offices about 20 to 30 minutes later, after receiving the green light from a building maintenance personnel.

"He also mentioned that he did check the surroundings of the building to make sure there were no cracks... so that was his assurance to us that we can actually go back to the office," said office worker Tan Chou Yen.

Tremors were also reported in several states on the west coast of Malaysia.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said an Indian Ocean-wide tsunami watch is in effect.

India issued a tsunami warning for its eastern coast after the Indonesian quake shook major Indian cities, causing panic and sending people fleeing onto the streets.

Sri Lanka also issued a tsunami warning across the island and asked coastal residents to evacuate, while Thailand urged people on the Andaman coast to move to safe areas.

Universal Studio Singapore reveals Ticket prices for entry

UNIVERSAL Studios on Wednesday announced the long-awaited ticket prices for its theme on Sentosa.

A one-day pass for weekdays will cost $66 for adults, $48 for childrens and $32 for senior citizens. For weekends, public holidays and eve of public holidays, a day-pass will cost $72, $52 and $36 respectively.

For those who want to beat the snaking queues which r expected at theme parks, they can buy an express pass, on top of the regular admission charge. The express pass is $30 for weekdays and non-sch holidays, $48 for weekday rates during sch holidays, n $68 for weekends n black-out dates. This express pass will give the ticket holder priority access to all the attractions n rides within the theme park. The number of such passes r limited daily.

Visitors to the park need pay only one price to get access to 24 attractions, 20 of which will be open when the park is ready for operations, along with 30 themed restaurants n food carts, as well as another 20 retail shops and kiosks.

The theme park is expected to greet its 1st visitors early next year when the $6.59 billion integrated resort, Resorts World at Sentosa, opens its doors. In the 1st phase of its opening, it will open the theme park, casino, four hotels, a theatre with a aerial circus show n a half-kilometre strip of restaurants, bars n retail outlets.

Rates for three of its hotels were also revealed on Wednesday, with rates at Festive Hotel starting at $400, Hard Rock Hotel rates going at $450 n Hotel Michael rooms going for least $500.

hmm...but the end she said maybe no photo in content, unless got extra space then put up my pic...nvm....just check out tis coming Sunday's "Sunday Time"....

Besides tis, The Radio Stn "Live 93.8" oso call me for interview the same things, just for 5 min in afternoon programme....=p

Last week i went on Sat morning 6am, still cant get the tixs...very disappointed loh!!! For tis week i must go earlier then all of them, make sure i can get the tixs in tis week, so i can enjoy and experience with my lovely son.....

So i went to find out the last 2 week Queue up "result". The officer told me tat the 1st weekend in Feb, Queue in 1st tat lucky person came at Fri nite abt 11pm, they used 9 hour to Q overnite...wow....they no need to sleep meh i think??? In 2nd weekend of Feb, the 1st lucky person oso came at Fri nite but abt 9.30pm...wow...earlier then the 1st weekend leh!!! ok, now think i know how to do already...I asked my colleagues said tat wanna go queueing overnite on Fri for tis FREE tixs after work but they dun want, they said i m crazy....ok loh!!!

Yesterday....tat is Fri, actually i m on MC coz gastic pain, so i used to plans how to kill the time when queueing overnite? so, i came at 3pm, when me arrived the tixs counter, no one in the Q, really very happy loh!!! maybe is too early.... so i went to restaurant to hv my Lunch + Dinner to store my energy, so tat i got energetic to Queueing for long hours.....i like their Tiramisu, it really very nice....

After had my gd meal, still early abt 4pm++, the officer start to arrange the queueing place for ppl who wanna queueing ovenite, he saw me stand there and bring "Big bag and small bag" and asking me is me came for queueing??? he very supprise and passed me his name card...is Operation Asst Manager, huh!!! 1st in my mind is Y Operation Asst Manager need to came arrange the queueing place himself and not the others staff? hmm....maybe he really helpfull....
He bring me to their office, ask somebody to entertain me......ya, they really friendly and helpfull, they ask me go around shop shop coz still early, then come bk for queue later....of coz i dont, came so early, if go shop shop later others ppl come then i cannot be the 1st comer already....so I quickly go chop the place 1st, very STUBBORN loh! ...ya, i m very stubborn, gastric pain still came early for Q.....WOW...see...no one in the queue....YEAH!!! i m the 1st in the Q....finally.......the 2nd group came at abt 5.15pm...Now wanna thinking how to kill the time in over a prolonged period of time, luckily i got bring my lover->Laptop and PSP, and i bring the newspaper, magazines, Beer, Chicken Essence, peanut and lot of crakers....of coz and my gastric pain medicien....
Acutually bring Laptop is for me to surf net, too bad coz there dun hv FREE WIRELESS NETWORK.....haiz....so siaz loh! nvm, luckily i got lots of movies store in my laptop, so i used to watch 2 movies....and oso help others to kill their time......Is very late nite abt 3.30am, my eyes keep closing and very sleepy now, cannot stay till dawn, so just lay down and take a nap abt 1.30hrs....no enough rest of coz, but nvm, i got Chicken Essence to refresh mah!!! Finally...dawn.....the reporter and cameraman keep interview and shooting......here is Sat "Wan Bao" and Sunday "The New Paper".....7.40am. the staff start to issue free tixs for all of us....yeah!!! i got my 4 tixs free now..... time to going hm rest.......

Finally…the Ang Mo Kio Blk 724 Food Center & Market Re-opens…Yeah!!! wait until my neck long long already...

This food center was closed for upgrading in April last year, I had been looking forward to its re-opening…wait long long....is really very long...

After 9 mths of upgrading work, the market and food center was finally reopened on 16 Jan this year, we whole group of ppl eagerly went to try the food...

We like the carrot cake, 酿豆腐。。。the Carry Chicken Mee also very nice...与此同时我也接受了这个访问。。。可是刊登出来的照片有点不像我咧！可能是我把头发束成马尾的关系吧！
